Claude Code on Android, ready to build apps
The short version. AppMama runs Anthropic's Claude Code agent on your Android phone, alongside a complete Android build toolchain. Sign in with your Claude plan, describe an app, and Claude Code writes it, builds it and hands you an APK to install — all on the phone.
Why Claude Code on a phone is hard
Claude Code is a terminal program built for macOS, Linux and Windows. Getting it onto Android usually means Termux, a Node or native install, and patching around Android's restrictions on running binaries. Even then, Claude Code can write an Android app but cannot build one: that needs a JDK, Gradle and Android build tools that are not packaged for phones.
What AppMama gives Claude Code
- A real terminal session — Termux's terminal, so you can watch every command it runs.
- A working toolchain — JDK, Gradle and the Android build tools, preinstalled. See how the APK build works.
- Your own account — sign in with Claude Pro or Max, or paste an Anthropic API key. Your sign-in is stored encrypted on the phone and used only to talk to Anthropic.
- The last step done for you — when the APK is ready it appears as a card; tap to install it.
- Conversations per app — come back later and ask for changes; each version is kept on a timeline.
Or use OpenRouter
AppMama can also run Claude Code against OpenRouter's Anthropic-compatible endpoint, which lets you use other models through the same agent — including OpenRouter's free models if you don't have a paid plan.
Prefer ChatGPT or Grok?
The same app runs OpenAI's Codex with your ChatGPT plan — see Codex on Android — and xAI's Grok with SuperGrok or X Premium+.
Questions
Can I run Claude Code on an Android phone?
Yes. AppMama runs Claude Code inside the app, in a live terminal session, with everything it needs already installed. You sign in with your Claude subscription or an Anthropic API key.
Does it use my Claude Pro or Max subscription?
Yes. You sign in to your own Claude account, so usage counts against your plan the same way Claude Code on a computer does. An Anthropic API key works too.
Do I need Termux?
No. AppMama brings its own Linux environment, based on Termux's terminal, so there is nothing to install or configure.
Can I pick the model?
Yes. Pick the model — a fast one for small changes, a stronger one for a whole new app.
